The AURORAxmp-PowerWorld® Simulator Interface
EPIS, in conjunction with PowerWorld, developed the AURORAxmp-PowerWorld Simulator Interface to integrate AURORAxmp and PowerWorld® Simulator. The AURORAxmp-PowerWorld Simulator Interface operates both models, augmenting their full capabilities in a seamless modeling process.
PowerWorld Simulator users gain access to the detailed database, sophisticated generation commitment and dispatch logic, risk, and portfolio capabilities of AURORAxmp. AURORAxmp users benefit from the power flow and nodal pricing strengths of PowerWorld Simulator, a high-voltage optimal power flow model. Power marketers, developers, and resource planners now have a powerful, easy-to-use interface to efficiently set up and run nodal studies.
EPIS does not sell or represent PowerWorld. For more information about PowerWorld and its capabilities, see www.powerworld.com. PowerWorld® Simulator OPF SimAuto is an interactive power simulation package designed to simulate high-voltage power system operation. It provides a comprehensive view of nodal-level electrical power flows in a transmission grid. The Simulator OPF tool allows users to calculate LMPs, and the Simulator SimAuto tool allows other programs to access and control Simulator via a Microsoft COM object.

AURORAxmp - PowerWorld Simulator Interface Pricing
AURORAxmp users may license the Interface. The Interface enables an AURORAxmp user to set up and run PowerWorld Simulator from the AURORAxmp graphical user interface. Based on the set-up assumptions and data maps, AURORAxmp dispatches and performs unit-commitment and dynamically passes hourly data to PowerWorld Simulator. AURORAxmp automatically runs the PowerWorld Simulator option selected to produce generation information and locational marginal prices (LMP) for the hours selected in the study.
To use the Interface, the Licensee must (1) license the Interface from EPIS, and (2) license the PowerWorld Simulator software under a separate agreement from the PowerWorld Corporation.
The EPIS annual license fee for the Interface is $15,000. Normal software upgrades to the Interface Software will be provided to the Interface Licensee at no cost for as long as the Licensee is a current Licensee of the Interface software.
EPIS offers “data mapping” for specified power flow cases for use with the Interface for $15,000. The data mapping information is available only to users who are authorized to have access to power flow cases. Likewise, Interface Licensees may develop there own data maps and are not obligated to use EPIS data mapping.
