Johnny Johnston is a Team Leader from National Grid Transco’s UK operations and for the last two years has been on placement to one of its subsidiaries GridAmerica, an Independent Transmission Company (ITC) operating within MISO’s footprint. Johnny has been responsible for sharing experiences and knowledge from other parts of the company to set up the Economic Forecasting Team which has been studying the ‘costs’ of transmission management in the new MISO Day 2 Market.

His experience in GridAmerica’s parent company, National Grid Transco the Great Britain Transmission System Operator, has included working on the implementation of the electricity market in England and Wales, reducing the wholesale price of electricity by 40%, and its recent expansion to Scotland as well as providing technical support to the senior management during the UK loss of supply incidents in 2003. Johnny holds a Masters in Engineering from the University of Oxford, England.
