Speaker Profile: Robert McCullough

Robert McCullough, Managing Partner, McCullough Research
Mr. McCullough is the managing partner of an energy consulting firm based in Portland, Oregon. The firm specializes in business and public policy issues throughout the U.S. and Canada. Mr. McCullough’s innovations in energy policy for the primary metals sector have now been adopted throughout the world. Mr. McCullough helped start the nation’s first electric brokerage and has continued to be active in this area. McCullough Research has been actively involved in deregulation in California, Texas, Illinois, and Massachusetts. The firm has been active in purchasing electricity for customers and utilities throughout the U.S. In 2000, McCullough Research was retained by a group of Pacific Northwest utilities and industries to investigate the high prices in the market since 2000. Mr. McCullough’s research and testimony before both the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on Enron’s collapse and its relationship to energy markets has led to numerous criminal changes and sanctions against market manipulations.
Before starting McCullough Research, Mr. McCullough was an officer at Portland General Corporation where he had responsibilities in finance, power marketing, and rate setting. He was educated at Reed College, Portland State University, and Cornell University in economics and finance. He is a member of the American Economics Association, the American Financial Association, and the Econometric Association. Mr. McCullough is also an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University.
